Catalunya 2020
Each
of the visions presented for debate in this document constitutes
a possible future of Catalonia, and integrates expectations
created by the evolution of global tendencies,; tendencies
which, whilst considered to be driven rather independently
from the will of Catalans, are nevertheless believed to have
a direct impact on the concrete decisions and “strategies”
adopted. Each vision subscribes to a particular strategic
and positive bet on the future, open to criticism, and paving
the way for a debate in which new complex and operative visions
of synthesis can result. |

National
Spatial strategy for Ireland 2002-2020, Ireland
The National Spatial Strategy (NSS) is a coherent national
planning framework for Ireland for the next 20 years. It's
about people, places and potential. Making the most of our
cities, townsand rural places to bring a better spread
of opportunities, better quality of life and better places
to live in. The NSS also recognises the importance of other
plans and programmes and their relevance to achieving the
aims of the Strategy. In addressing spatial issues for the
island of Ireland as a whole and strengthening cross-border
co-operation, the NSS acknowledges the importance of Shaping
Our Future, the Regional Development Strategy for Northern

What
France in 2020? Some directions for planning Europe’s future
Again, France is engaged in a major spatial planning operation
with the usual attributes of scenarios and prospective research.1
The approach adopted is innovative, suited to inspire, for
example, a rethinking of the Dutch approach to spatial planning.
In the present paper, however, the emphasis is on the European
connotation of what is happening in France. |
