The “Trends to 2030” publication gives detailed projections on energy and transport for the current EU and the enlarged EU of 25. It also addresses wider European and world developments. These “baseline” projections show how the future energy, transport and CO2 emissions may unfold with a continuation of current trends and policies.

FANTASIE - Forecasting and Assessment of New Technologies and TrAnsport Systems and their Impact on the Environment

The FANTASIE project is a major EU research project looking at developments in transport technologies and the effects that these will have on Europe’s future transport systems. In addition, the project will look at how these technologies may influence, and be influenced by, the aims and related initiatives of the Union’s Common Transport Policy.

Freight transport in Europe: Policy issues and future scenarios on trans.border alpine connections

This paper presents an overview of European policy on interconnected cross-border transport networks as well as of severe problems in estimating empirically the avalanche of goods movements in the European Union (EU). In particular, it deals with the Transalpine freight transport case, which represents one of the most challenging operational and policy issues of the present and future - both international (EU) and national (the Alpine countries) - freight transport developments
