» Bridges (4th EU Research Programme) A new middleware technology

The goal of the research was empowering policy-makers -in particular those responsible for European transport policies- with friendly and productive access to advanced decisionmaking tools, such as transport models and harmonised databases". In order to do this, Bridges developed a number of highly specialited tools missing in the industry (data formats, communication protocols, component routines, expert systems, user-interfaces, etc.) required to build up open and scalable multi-software systems useful supporting transport decision making. It was fully financed by the 4th European Framework.

» Spotlights TN (5th EU Research Programme) Keys to bring advanced transport models to light

SpotlightsTN was a scientific forum for European transport modelers lauched in January 2000 by EC/DG TREN to explore ways for making advanced transport models transparent to end-users and more integrated into policy-making processes. SpotlightsTN activities try to achive a consensus across the transport modelling community in relation to specific mechanisms to define, for example, how the scientific character of a model can be recognised. It was financed by the 5th European Research Programe.
