REBALANCE brings together different voices, visionary thinkers from humanistic fields, mobility experts, stakeholders and European policy decision-makers, to create a fruitful knowledge-sharing hub to discuss future mobility policies.

As a cultural and political initiative, the REBALANCE overall aim is to conduct an open deliberative forward-looking exercise towards a transformative transport policy strategy in favour of a paradigm shift in mobility, pushing for the more effective adoption of cultural and social values not yet fully considered, better aligned with SDGs and mounting concerns about climate change. The critical review of the present also in the light of the recent COVID-19 pandemic which drastically affected our lifestyles, the vision over the future and the roadmap to achieve it, will be embedded in a Manifesto with the aim to stimulate European policymakers to adopt concrete legal and political measures while moving the wider European communities towards a radical change.

ATHIKA- Advanced Training in Health Innovation Knowledge Alliance

The development and implementation of novel and advanced healthcare systems based on ICT require a greater interaction between healthcare professionals and patients, as well as technological experts, in order to manage data, information and knowledge to provide higher value in the provision of health services, ruling out what is harmful, untested, or which can be counterproductive in relation to human rights involved. Availabe health data is becoming massive, comes from uncontrolled environments and needs to be handled under proper ethical criteria to respect fundamental human rights.

There is a lack of technologic experts or engineers that know well the specific ethical implications of the healthcare applications, and many healthcare center managers are reluctant to all the changes that the technology integration implies. Engineering education still is focused on how to develop and implement new technologies, neglecting the social and environmental implications of them –the final purpose and meaning of them. There is a urgent need to engage students and professors in discussions related to the ethical implications of new technologies, together with healthcare professionals.

In this context our Partnership recognized that ICT entrepreneurs and future professionals of the healthcare sector need to increase their technological skills and ethical competencies for what concern how digitalization health innovation can be implemented in a humanistic manner. To face these needs, ATHIKA proposes to explore innovative approaches for technologically advanced training and support that explicitely integrates humanistic concerns, aimed at increasing the successful implementation of ICT – Internet of Thinks, BigData and Artificial Intelligent Systems integrated into Decision-Support Systems, for the healthcare sector of European companies and ventures.

ATHIKA will build a set of advanced training programs for HEIs, involving academia, health public administration, SMEs, startups and entrepreneurs, and health business consultants. The variety of profiles of ATHIKA partners will provide a complete perspective of the sector and will enable the identification of the more urgent challenges in the health sector. They will guide and coach students during the program and afterwards in a competition in which the students from different HEIs and backgrounds collaborating in the development of novel technical and ethical-compliance solutions. ATHIKA will combine the training and competition activities with a set of 4 workshops and a final symposium for the presentation of the project results and exchange of knowledge and the lessons learnt between the partners, the students and external health sector stakeholders all across Europe.
